Hyderabad Anaesthesiologist Dr. Vibhavari appointed Clinical lead for 2026 by WFSA

Hyderabad, Feb 11 (TNT): Dr. Vibhavari Nayak, Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist at Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (BIACH&RI), has been appointed as Clinical Lead for 2026 by the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists (WFSA), the apex global body representing anaesthesiologists worldwide.

In her new international role, Dr. Vibhavari will work closely with WFSA to develop and curate clinical content aligned with the 2026 theme, “Anesthesiology Along the Patient Pathway.” This will include evidence-based clinical guidelines and treatment-related educational material disseminated through articles, videos, and webinars, the Institute said in a release here on Wednesday.

As part of the mandate, she will coordinate with national anaesthesiology societies across countries to help make cutting-edge practices accessible globally, with a special focus on low- and middle-income regions where shortages of trained anaesthesiologists and modern technology persist.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Vibhavari said she was honoured to contribute to a renowned international organisation representing thousands of anaesthesiologists.

She noted that, as medical practices evolve rapidly, ensuring equitable access to up-to-date knowledge in anaesthesiology central to surgical care and pain management is both a privilege and a responsibility.

She expressed confidence in advancing this mission, particularly for developing and underserved healthcare systems.

The management, doctors, and staff of BIACH&RI congratulated Dr. Vibhavari on the prestigious appointment and wished her continued success.

Dr. Vibhavari Nayak, MD, DNB (Anaesthesiology), brings over 20 years of experience in anaesthesia.

Trained at the University of Pune and Christian Medical College, Vellore, she has been based in Hyderabad for about 15 years and has served at BIACH&RI for more than a decade. She has also worked as an Assistant Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Her clinical interests include paediatric anaesthesia, onco-anaesthesia, and long-term vascular access.

She is a recipient of the Honorary Fellowship in Paediatric Anaesthesia from the Indian Association of Paediatric Anaesthesiologists, has delivered talks at national and international conferences, authored 35+ peer-reviewed publications, and contributed six textbook chapters.
