Hyderabad, Mar 13 (TNT): The Cyberabad Police Cybercrime wing has apprehended a man for allegedly posting defamatory and abusive content targeting actor Anasuya Bharadwaj on social media platforms.
Te case was registered following a complaint filed by the actor stating that since December 23, 2025, several individuals and social media pages had been circulating defamatory, abusive and obscene comments against her online, causing harm to her reputation, the cybercrime police said in a release here on Friday.
Police identified the accused as Janardhan (29), a resident of Indranagar in Hyderabad and a native of Pedda Jutoor village in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh.
He was allegedly operating an Instagram account under the name @mmtt_official and had circulated objectionable electronic content, including an AI-fabricated video of the complainant.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act 2000, and further investigation is underway.
The police advised social media users to maintain responsible online behaviour and avoid posting abusive or defamatory content, warning that such acts could lead to legal action.
Citizens were also urged to report cyber offences to the nearest cybercrime police station or through the 1930 cyber helpline.
