Hisense opens its first manufacting plant in India in Andhra Pradewsh

Sri City (Tirupati Dist, Andhra Pradesh), Feb 10 (TNT): Global consumer electronics major Hisense has taken a decisive step towards deepening its India presence by inaugurating its first manufacturing facility in the country at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

The 10-acre plant has been set up through a joint venture with Epack Manufacturing Technologies Private Limited, a subsidiary of Epack Durable Limited, signalling Hisense’s shift from an import-led model to a locally integrated manufacturing strategy.

The facility, developed with an investment of over USD 30 million, is located within Epack Durable’s industrial park at Sri City, one of India’s fastest-growing integrated manufacturing hubs, the company said in a release.

Commercial production is scheduled to begin from February 2026, positioning Hisense to strengthen its supply chain resilience and cost competitiveness in the fast-growing Indian consumer durables market.

In its Phase 1, the plant will exclusively manufacture room air conditioners (RACs) for Hisense India, accounting for 100% of the brand’s domestic RAC output.

The initial installed capacity stands at 0.75 million units per annum, covering flagship product lines such as the F-Series, Eco Series, Intelli Perla Series and the upcoming Intelli Pro Series.

The company has outlined a clear expansion roadmap. Phase 2 (Q2 FY27) will add washing machine manufacturing across top-load and front-load categories, while Phase 3 (Q3 FY27) will extend production to LED televisions.

The phased approach underlines Hisense’s intent to scale in line with market demand while leveraging India as both a consumption and export base.

Currently employing around 500 people, the facility is expected to create nearly 1,500 jobs over the next 12–24 months.

The plant will cater to both domestic and export markets, enhancing Hisense’s regional supply-chain footprint.

Commenting on the development, Pankaj Rana, CEO, Hisense India, said the Sri City plant would give the company tighter control over quality, costs and supply chains while enabling product customisation for Indian consumers.

From Epack Durable’s side, Ajay Singhania highlighted that the partnership blends Hisense’s global technology with India-based manufacturing expertise, reinforcing India’s role in global value chains.
