Heatwave Alert in AP: Severe Conditions Likely in Multiple Districts over next two-days

Amaravati, March 27 (TNT): The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) on Friday issued a heatwave alert for several districts, warning of severe weather conditions over the next two days.

According to APSDMA Managing Director Prakhar Jain, severe heatwave conditions are likely to impact parts of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday (March 28), particularly in select mandals of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Parvathipuram Manyam districts.

In addition, heatwave conditions are expected in as many as 68 mandals across multiple districts, including Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Palnadu and Prakasam. On Sunday, severe heatwave conditions are likely in 18 mandals, while another 29 mandals may experience moderate heatwave impact.

The authority noted that temperatures in Rayalaseema districts are likely to hover between 40°C and 42°C.

On Friday, several locations recorded high temperatures, including 42.1°C in Nandyal district and around 42°C in Kadapa district, indicating intensifying summer conditions.

Authorities have advised the public to take precautionary measures, including using caps, umbrellas, towels and wearing light cotton clothing to avoid heatstroke.

Special caution has been urged for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, pregnant women and infants.

Officials also warned people to minimise exposure to hot winds and remain hydrated, as the state braces for rising temperatures in the coming days.
