Former AP DGP H. J. Dora’s demise a great loss to police fraternity: Hyderabad CP Sajjanar

Hyderabad, Mar 13(TNT):  Hyderabad City Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar on Friday expressed deep grief over the demise of former Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police H. J. Dora, describing him as one of the finest officers of the Indian Police Service.

In a condolence message, Sajjanar said Dora’s distinguished career and leadership had left a lasting impact on policing in the state.

He described him as a thorough professional and an inspiring leader who commanded immense respect within the police fraternity and beyond.

Recalling Dora’s tenure as DGP, Sajjanar said he had assumed office at a time when Naxalism was at its peak. Just days before he took charge in November 1996, cadres of the People’s War Group had attacked the Sirpur-Utnur police station in Adilabad district, killing 16 policemen.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Dora’s swift actions, strategic leadership and constant guidance helped stabilise the force and significantly boost the morale of police personnel, he said.

Sajjanar noted that Dora later went on to become the longest-serving head of the state police force, introducing several policy reforms while emphasising professionalism and service-oriented policing.

Recalling his personal association with the former police chief, Sajjanar said Dora was his first police boss. He added that he had the opportunity to meet him again in December last year and share the dais at a private event, which he described as a cherished moment.

The Hyderabad City Police conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
