Hyderabad, Feb 7 (TNT): Dismissing media speculation regarding the loss of sensitive case materials in the recent fire incident, Shikha Goel, Director of the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory (TGFSL), on Sunday said that most of the case property has been retrieved safely.
She appealed to the media to avoid unverified and unsubstantiated claims.
Addressing a press conference here, Shikha Goel said that during the examination of the scene of occurrence, police retrieved a large quantity of case property, which has been placed under proper security.
She assured that most facilities of the Forensic Science Laboratory remain fully functional, and the sections that suffered damage would be restored at the earliest.
The Director reiterated that the cause of the fire will be established only after a detailed investigation.
In an official release issued on Saturday, she stated that a fire broke out at the Forensic Science Laboratory located at Nampally on Saturday morning, causing damage to parts of the Computer Forensic Laboratory, the training hall and certain adjoining facilities on the first floor of the building.
No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident.
According to the release, the fire occurred around 10:08 am, and fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control by around 1:30 pm. The extent of damage caused by the incident is currently being assessed.
A case has been registered at Nampally Police Station, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the fire, she added.
