Fire breaks out at Telangana Forensic Lab in Hyderabad; Forensic Materials Intact

Hyderabad, Feb 7 (TNT): A fire broke out at the Telangana Forensic Science Laboratory (TFSL) at Nampally here on Saturday.

No casualties or injuries were reported.

In a release here tonight, TFSL Director Shikha Goel, the fire occurred at around 10:08 am in a room on the first floor of the laboratory building and was first noticed by an employee. The smoke alarm system installed on the first floor was immediately activated.

The Fire Department was alerted promptly, and fire tenders reached the spot within minutes. The fire was completely brought under control by around 1:30 pm, she said.

The incident caused some damage to the computer forensic lab, the training hall, and a few other facilities on the first floor. However, officials said most of the case property and forensic material remained intact, the Director said.

A complaint has been lodged with the Telangana Police, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the cause of the fire. The extent of damage is being assessed.

The Director urged restraint and cautioned against unverified reports regarding the cause of the fire and extent of losses.
