entre Ignoring AP Reorganisation Promises, Telangana Facing Injustice: MP Vamsi

New Delhi, April 1 (TNT): Congress MP from Peddapalli in Telangana, Gaddam Vamsi Krishna on Wednesday alleged in Parliament that Telangana continues to face injustice, with several promises under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 remaining unfulfilled.

Raising the issue, he said that despite the formation of Telangana, assurances made at the time of bifurcation were yet to be implemented, affecting the State’s development.

Recalling the 1969 Telangana agitation, Vamsi Krishna said leaders had fought for “Neellu, Nidhulu, Niyamakalu” (water, funds and jobs), but alleged that injustice continues even today.

He expressed concern over the proposed Banakacherla project on the Krishna River in Andhra Pradesh, claiming it could divert around 200 TMC of water meant for Telangana, potentially impacting North Telangana and making it drought-prone.

The MP also flagged disparities in infrastructure development, stating that while Andhra Pradesh has multiple airports, Telangana has only one, and the proposed airport in Peddapalli has seen no progress.

On railway allocations, he alleged that Andhra Pradesh is receiving projects worth thousands of crores, while Telangana is being allocated comparatively smaller projects.

He further raised concerns over backwater issues linked to the Polavaram Project, stating that nearly two lakh people in Kottagudem and Bhadrachalam areas are at risk and called for immediate construction of flood protection measures.

Vamsi also pointed to pending commitments such as the Bayaram Steel Factory and dues related to power payments, and highlighted a urea shortage at RFCL Ramagundam affecting farmers.

He alleged that key projects such as an industrial corridor and a semiconductor facility had not been sanctioned to Telangana, and urged the Centre to address the issues without delay.
