ECI Orders Re-poll at One Assam Booth After Scrutiny

New Delhi, Apr 10 (TNT): The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday said only one re-poll has been recommended following scrutiny of poll-day documents after the 2026 Assembly and bye-elections.

The Commission said scrutiny of Form 17A (Register of Voters) and other poll-day documents was conducted in all 296 Assembly constituencies that went to polls in the Assembly elections in Assam, Kerala and Puducherry, along with four Assembly constituencies that went to bye-elections in Karnataka, Nagaland and Tripura.

According to the Commission, the scrutiny was carried out in the presence of 296 Returning Officers and 296 General Observers appointed by the poll panel.

It said all 1,899 candidates were informed in advance about the date, time and venue of the scrutiny process.

The Commission stated that only one re-poll was recommended out of 63,084 polling stations where polling was held.

Accordingly, re-poll has been ordered at 239-Babyland High English School polling station in 123-Karimganj North Assembly Constituency of Assam.

The re-poll will be held on April 11, 2026, the Commission said.

It added that the entire scrutiny process was videographed and Forms 17A along with related materials were resealed after scrutiny with the seal of the Returning Officer.
