Puducherry, Apr 3 (TNT) : Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu on Friday campaigned for Congress candidates in the Puducherry Assembly elections, urging voters to support the Congress–DMK alliance to “protect democracy” and ensure development.
Accompanied by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Puducherry PCC President Vaidyalingam, Bhatti addressed public meetings in Manavely and M. Balam constituencies in support of Congress candidates.
Appealing to voters to bring the Indian National Congress back to power, Bhatti said the Congress–DMK alliance is committed to implementing all its poll promises and cautioned against “misinformation” by the National Democratic Alliance.
Highlighting Telangana as a model, he said the Congress government in the state began implementing guarantees from its first Cabinet meeting.
He noted that farm loans worth ₹21,000 crore for about 25 lakh farmers have been waived, while ₹18,000 crore is being provided annually under the Rythu Bharosa scheme at ₹12,000 per acre.
He added that over 67,000 government jobs have been filled transparently, and welfare initiatives such as free bus travel for women under the Mahalakshmi scheme, 200 units of free electricity, ₹500 gas cylinders, and sanction of 4.5 lakh Indiramma houses are being implemented.
Bhatti said free bus travel has helped women save ₹6,000–₹7,000 per month and claimed the RTC has been turned profitable. He also highlighted efforts to promote women as entrepreneurs in the transport sector.
Expressing confidence in the state’s economic trajectory, he said Telangana aims to become a $1 trillion economy by 2034 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047 under its long-term vision, adding that the state is maintaining a growth rate of 10.8% without increasing taxes.
