Hyderabad, Apr 12 (TNT): Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre (DMDSC) launched Hyderabad’s first holistic mobile diabetes care initiative, ‘Dr. Mohan’s On Wheels’ here on Sunday, aimed at delivering comprehensive diabetes care directly to patients’ doorsteps.
The first dedicated mobile unit was flagged off at Sundarayya Park in the city by T. Praveen Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), along with medical experts.
A walkathon from Sundarayya Park to Indira Park, involving over 300 participants, was also organised to promote diabetes awareness and active lifestyles.
The initiative comes amid rising cases of diabetes in Hyderabad, driven by sedentary lifestyles and rapid urbanisation.
‘Dr. Mohan’s On Wheels’ is designed to bridge gaps in access by providing expert-led, continuous and preventive care at home particularly benefiting senior citizens, individuals with mobility challenges, and underserved communities.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman of DMDSC, said the initiative aims to strengthen preventive healthcare by enabling early detection, regular monitoring and personalised guidance without requiring patients to travel.
Praveen Kumar noted that such mobile healthcare solutions are crucial in reaching vulnerable populations and improving timely access to essential screening and treatment services.
The mobile unit offers a wide range of services, including: Blood sugar testing and diabetes screening ; Foot and eye examinations and ECG and continuous glucose monitoring support.
Home-based services such as nursing care, physiotherapy, blood sample collection, surgical dressing, catheterisation, nebulisation, and IV/IM injections besides preventive care including diet counselling, vaccinations, and medicine home delivery
