Develop Uttarandhra as Global Destination : Union Min. Ram Mohan

Visakhapatnam, Mar 21 (TNT): Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu on Saturday said Uttarandhra should be developed into a global destination, citing increasing investments and infrastructure growth in the region.

Addressing the ‘Swarnandhra’ conference being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here, Ram Mohan said Andhra Pradesh, under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, is emerging strongly on the global stage.

He credited Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership and recalled support extended by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for Vision 2020, adding that the state is now moving towards ‘Swarnandhra 2047’ with support from the Centre.

Referring to challenges faced post-bifurcation, he said the Union government is assisting key projects such as Polavaram and the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

Emphasising infrastructure-led growth, the Minister said transport networks such as highways and ports play a crucial role in development, and called for focused efforts in these sectors.

He said the State government is adopting a region-specific development approach to ensure balanced growth across Andhra Pradesh.

Stating that Uttarandhra, once considered a backward region, is now attracting investments, he said projects such as Bhogapuram Airport, Mulapeta Port, a steel plant, data centres and hospitality ventures are set to transform the region.

He urged stakeholders to leverage the growing investor interest in the state.

CII representatives and industry leaders were present on the occasion.
