Hyderabad, Feb 22 (TNT):The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Telangana organised the Telangana Tourism Summit 2026 at the National Institute of Tourism & Hospitality Management (NITHM) here on Saturday, focusing on the theme “Telangana Tourism 2030: Heritage, Innovation & Sustainability”
Delivering the special address, Valluru Kranthi, Managing Director of Telangana Tourism Development Corporation, outlined key initiatives including identification of over 400 tourist sites and promotion of 100 weekend destinations through digital outreach.
She highlighted customised tourism offerings, medical tourism, MICE tourism, film tourism under the ‘Film Telangana’ initiative, wedding tourism, and the introduction of tourism police to enhance visitor safety.
CII Telangana Chairman R. Sivaprasad Reddy said tourism has significant potential to drive inclusive economic growth by generating employment and promoting the state’s unique identity. He emphasised closer collaboration between government and industry to build world-class infrastructure and enhance visitor experience
Industry leaders, government officials, tourism professionals and academia deliberated on strengthening the state’s tourism ecosystem and positioning Telangana as a leading cultural and heritage destination.
Speakers also stressed sustainability measures such as green buildings and eco-sensitive planning, along with capacity building, skilling and heritage conservation to support long-term growth.
The summit featured a heritage walk at Charminar and a cultural evening at the restored Bansilalpet Stepwell, showcasing Telangana’s cultural heritage. .
Participants called for deeper collaboration among government, industry, academia and civil society to strengthen Telangana’s global tourism brand
