Centre Approves NFDB Regional Office in Amaravati, AP Minister Atchannaidu

Amaravati, Apr 7 (TNT): The Centre has given approval for setting up a regional office of the National Fisheries Development Board ( NFDB) in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said on Tuesday.

He said the decision followed a request from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, noting that Andhra Pradesh is one of the leading aquaculture states in the country.

The Minister said Union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh has informed that the state government needs to provide land and basic infrastructure for establishing the office.

Atchannaidu said the regional office would provide a major boost to the fisheries sector and help strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position as a key hub for aquaculture development.

He said fishermen would benefit from improved access to modern technologies, better farming practices, quality seed and feed management, and training in disease control.

The facility is also expected to ensure faster implementation of government schemes, subsidies and financial assistance, besides enhancing support for processing, storage, transportation and exports.

The Minister added that the initiative would generate employment opportunities in rural areas and create new avenues of livelihood for youth.
