BRS alleges diversion of Rythu Bandhu Funds, Calls it ‘Rahul Bandhu’

Sircilla(Telangana), Mar 9 (TNT) : BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Congress government in Telangana, alleging that funds meant for farmers under the Rythu Bandhu are being diverted and mockingly termed it a “Rahul Bandhu” scheme.

Addressing a felicitation programme for newly elected councillors here, KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of repeatedly delaying Rythu Bandhu payments to farmers while allegedly diverting funds to please the Congress high command.

KTR claimed that while the Congress had promised to enhance Rythu Bandhu assistance during elections, farmers across the state are still waiting for the funds to be released.

He alleged that nearly ₹1,000 crore annually is being diverted for political appeasement instead of supporting farmers.

Taking a swipe at the Congress leadership, he alleged that the Chief Minister was attempting to safeguard his political position by pleasing leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge at the cost of Telangana farmers.

The BRS leader also accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its poll promises, particularly the Six Guarantees, which the party had promised to give legal backing within 100 days of coming to power.

KTR said the BRS would raise the issue in the upcoming Assembly session and introduce a Private Member Bill seeking legal backing for the Six Guarantees to compel the government to implement the promises made to the people of Telangana.
