BJP Slams Congress for ‘Divisive Politics’, Rejects CM Revanth Reddy’s Allegations Against Centre

Hyderabad, Feb 9 (TNT): Escalating the political attack ahead of the Municipal and Corporation elections, Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Monday accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Indian National Congress of deliberately spreading misinformation and indulging in divisive politics to mislead people.

Addressing a press conference at Indur on the last day of electioneering for the February 11 civic polls, Rao alleged that making “false and baseless allegations” against the Centre and BJP leaders had become routine for the Congress leadership in the State.

He said the Congress was attempting to polarise voters by claiming that the Centre discriminates against southern States.

“The Congress and its allies in the INDI bloc are deliberately creating misconceptions among the people of South India for political gains,” Rao charged, asserting that people across the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari believe in national unity and want to move forward together.

Countering Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s repeated claims that the Centre had done little for Telangana, the BJP State chief said the Congress must first explain what it has delivered to the State.

He claimed that in the last 11 years, the Central government had allocated over ₹12 lakh crore to Telangana.

Rao credited the Centre for urban development and welfare initiatives in the State, citing funds from the 14th and 15th Finance Commissions and schemes such as AMRUT, Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Ujjwala and Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana.

He said improvements in municipal infrastructure, housing and basic services were possible due to Central support.

Highlighting infrastructure development, Rao said projects such as Vande Bharat trains, redevelopment of railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Scheme and enhanced road-rail connectivity were initiatives of the Centre.

He questioned the State government’s contribution, alleging that even essential services like free ration rice, street lighting and drainage works were being funded by the Centre.

Taking a direct political swipe, Rao alleged that the Congress government was diverting Central funds and projects disproportionately to Kodangal constituency, while neglecting the rest of Telangana.

He also claimed that none of the Congress party’s “Six Guarantees” had been fully implemented, demanding answers to farmers, students, women and other sections.

The BJP leader further alleged administrative failure, claiming that non-payment of retirement benefits had driven several retired employees to distress, and accused the State government of allowing corruption, land mafia activity and crime to rise.

He said the Congress was resorting to smear campaigns against BJP leaders to curb the growing public support for the BJP.

Dharmapuri Arvind, MP from Nizamabad, was also present at the press conference.
