BJP Seeks Action Against MIM MLAs Over ‘Vande Mataram’ Row, Escalates Political Tussle in Telangana

Hyderabad, Mar 25 (TNT):The BJP in Telangana on Wednesday intensified its political attack on the AIMIM, seeking action against its MLAs over the ‘Vande Mataram’ row and accusing the party of disrespecting national symbols.

In a representation submitted to the Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla,  BJP leaders led by State President N Ramchander Rao urged that the Assembly Speaker be directed to take action, including suspension or disqualification of MIM MLAs, who allegedly walked out during the recitation of ‘Vande Mataram’ in the House.

The BJP termed the incident as an “insult to the nation” and said it reflected a lack of respect towards national symbols, asserting that the issue goes beyond procedural conduct to questions of patriotism.

The party also sought to corner the ruling establishment, demanding strict action and alleging that failure to act would send a wrong signal on upholding constitutional values.

Highlighting the historical significance of ‘Vande Mataram’, BJP leaders said the song inspired India’s freedom movement and any perceived disrespect must be dealt with firmly.

The development is likely to further intensify political confrontation in Telangana, with the BJP positioning the issue as one of nationalism and accountability, while targeting both AIMIM and the ruling dispensation.

The representation was signed by several senior BJP leaders, including Ramchander Rao and other office-bearers.
