Hyderabad, Feb 9 (TNT): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday launched a sharp political offensive against the BJP-led Union government, accusing it of deliberately discriminating against Telangana since 2014 and protecting BRS leaders through what he termed a “secret understanding” between the BJP and BRS.
Addressing a press conference here, Revanth Reddy alleged that not a single major project was sanctioned to Telangana by the Centre over the past decade.
He criticised the BJP leadership for failing to grant national project status to key irrigation initiatives such as the Pranahita–Chevella project, despite repeated assurances.
Revanth Reddy also faulted Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for not extending cooperation on the project, which he said was crucial for Adilabad district.
Taking strong exception to fiscal devolution, the CM said Telangana was receiving only about 42–45 paise for every rupee contributed to the Centre as tax revenue, calling it “grave injustice” to southern states.
He accused the BJP of favouring northern states while short-changing Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The Chief Minister lashed out at Union Ministers Bandi Sanjay and G Kishan Reddy, alleging that they had “mortgaged Telangana’s self-respect in Delhi” by failing to secure funds for Metro Rail Phase-2, Musi rejuvenation, Sammakka Saralamma Jathara, ITIR and semiconductor projects.
He said the BJP leaders had misled voters during the GHMC elections with false promises and later “betrayed public trust.”
Revanth Reddy accused the BJP of resorting to religious polarisation for political survival, alleging that invoking Asaduddin Owaisi during elections was aimed at inciting hatred rather than addressing civic issues.
“What does Modi have to do with local body elections? Will he come and clean drains?” the CM asked.
The CM further alleged that the BJP was shielding BRS leaders including K Chandrashekar Rao, K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao from arrest in cases related to phone tapping, Kaleshwaram project and the Formula-E race.
He claimed the BRS had consistently supported the BJP on major national decisions, exposing their “collusive politics.”
Attacking the BRS, Revanth Reddy said the party, after ruling Telangana for ten years, was now seeking votes without accountability.
He accused BRS leaders of arrogance and political desperation, asserting that people were no longer willing to tolerate what he described as “corrupt and conspiratorial politics.”
Appealing to voters ahead of municipal elections, the Chief Minister urged people to compare “ten years of BRS rule and the BJP regime at the Centre since 2014” with the Congress government’s record.
He highlighted welfare measures implemented by the present government and called upon citizens to give a decisive mandate for a “people-centric and self-respecting Telangana.”
