Tadepalligudem (Andhra Pradesh), Apr 7 (TNT): Principal of ASR Homoeopathic Medical College (ASRHMC), Dr Ananda Kumar Pingali on Tuesday said homoeopathy, though founded in Germany by Samuel Hahnemann, has evolved into “Bharatiya Homoeopathy” owing to its widespread acceptance and integration in India.
He was addressing the concluding session of World Homoeopathy Awareness Week 2026, which ended with a mega diagnostic camp organised in collaboration with the Umar Alisha Rural Development Trust, offering free medical screenings to the public.
Dr Ananda Kumar said India has emerged as a global hub for homoeopathy, with over 20 crore patients and more than three lakh registered practitioners, supported by over 300 medical colleges.
He noted that the Government of India’s push for integrative medicine under AYUSH systems is contributing to the growth of homoeopathy and boosting medical tourism.
The week-long outreach programme, including rural health camps, aimed to bring homoeopathy-based healthcare closer to the public, he said.
The initiative culminated in a large-scale health camp at the campus, where hundreds of residents underwent diagnostic tests such as bone mineral density screening, metabolic panels and consultations for chronic conditions including obesity and hypertension.
Organisers said the camp focused on early detection of lifestyle-related diseases and “silent killers,” highlighting the importance of preventive healthcare.
They also expressed gratitude to the National Commission for Homoeopathy for its support and said regular outpatient and inpatient services at the institution would continue.
