Balwinder Jammu Elected IJU President, D. Somasundar Named Secretary General

Vijayawada, Mar 29 (TNT): The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) on Sunday elected its new national executive at the conclusion of its 11th national plenary.

Balwinder Singh Jammu from Punjab was elected President, while D. Somasundar from Andhra Pradesh was chosen as Secretary General.

Both had earlier been elected unopposed and formally assumed charge on the plenary stage.

The election process for other office-bearers and executive posts was conducted under the supervision of senior journalist M. A. Majid, who served as election officer.

The process began at 9 am, and results were announced after completion of nominations and withdrawals.

Key Office Bearers : Vice Presidents elected include Amar Mohan Prasad (Bihar) and Y. Narender Reddy (Telangana) ; National Secretaries include Narendra Bhardwaj (Uttar Pradesh), D. S. R. Subhash (Tamil Nadu) and P. Bhaskar Reddy (Karnataka). Balbir Singh Jandu (Punjab) was elected Treasurer.

Executive Committee: Members elected unanimously to the executive committee include representatives from across states such as Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Puducherry, Kerala, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and New Delhi.

The newly elected executive committee will hold office for a term of two years.
