ASR Homoeopathic Medical College Marks World Cancer Day with Rural Outreach and Focus on Cancer & Palliative Care

Tadepalligudem (Andhra Pradesh), Feb 4 (TNT) : Reaffirming its commitment to cancer awareness, prevention, and patient-centered care, ASR Homoeopathic Medical College observed World Cancer Day here on Wednesday with a comprehensive programme combining rural outreach and academic engagement.

As part of its community outreach, the college along with the “Umar Alisha Rural Development Trust” organised cancer awareness camps in the villages of Ballipadu, Relangi and Paidiparru.

The programmes focused on educating people about cancer symptoms, risk factors, the importance of early detection and preventive lifestyle measures.

The role of Homoeopathy as supportive care in cancer management and palliation was also explained to villagers.

Faculty members Dr. Sairam, Dr. Kiranmai and Dr. Azaruddin, supported by interns and students, led the outreach activities, highlighting the need for timely medical consultation and continuous follow-up to improve treatment outcomes.

An academic seminar held at the college campus on the occasion witnessed active participation from students and interns through poster and PowerPoint presentations on various cancer-related themes.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Principal Dr. D. Surendra Kumar stressed that awareness and early diagnosis remain key pillars in reducing cancer-related mortality.

Principal Dr. Ananda Kumar Pingali underlined the complementary role of Homoeopathy alongside conventional cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

He noted that homoeopathic medicines can help reduce treatment-related side effects, improve patient comfort and play a crucial role in palliative care by enhancing quality of life.

He also referred to ongoing research initiatives by the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, supporting evidence-based approaches in cancer and palliative care.

Dr. Pingali highlighted that the institution operates 18 Outpatient Department clinics, including a dedicated Cancer and Palliative Care Division.

A specialised Cancer OPD and inpatient facilities are available to provide comprehensive and individualised care for cancer patients, he said.

He urged the public to seek guidance from qualified homoeopathic practitioners and avoid self-medication, emphasising that cancer treatment requires a personalised and integrated approach.
