Arrangements Completed for Sri Ramakrishna Teertha Mukkoti at Tirumala; Children below 12 years not allowed

Tirumala, Jan 30 (TNT) : Arrangements for the Sri Ramakrishna Teertha Mukkoti festival, scheduled to be observed on February 1 in Tirumala, have been completed by all departments, according to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

The annual festival is held on the full moon day of the sacred Magha month and is associated with the belief that Sri Ramakrishna Maharshi performed penance on Venkatadri hill and created the sacred spring for his holy bath, where the idols of Sri Rama and Sri Krishna are traditionally anointed with milk, curd and sandalwood paste.

The holy teertha is located around six kilometres from Papavinasanam dam and is accessible through a forest path.

TTD has arranged shamianas, public address announcements, display boards on do’s and don’ts, annaprasadam, drinking water facilities and queue management with the support of Srivari Seva volunteers.

Devotees will be allowed to visit the site only between 6 am and 12 noon on February 1 after mandatory medical screening at Papavinasanam.

Children below 12 years of age and pilgrims suffering from obesity, asthma, heart-related ailments or other chronic diseases will not be permitted.

Two ambulances and four medical camps have been set up to handle emergencies.

As private vehicles and two-wheelers will not be allowed up to Papavinasanam on the day, APSRTC buses have been arranged to transport pilgrims from Gogarbham dam point.

A detailed review meeting on the arrangements was held at the PAC-4 meeting hall in Tirumala with the participation of TTD vigilance, security, police and other departments.
