Amaravati, Mar 19 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thurds said the state would be steered onto a sustained development path through short-, medium- and long-term planning, with a goal of placing the Telugu community at the top globally by 2047.
Addressing Ugadi celebrations held at Tummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram in Vijayawada, Naidu extended greetings to Telugu people worldwide and said the festival symbolises life’s mix of experiences, much like the six tastes of Ugadi pachadi.
He said traditional practices embedded scientific value and promoted healthy living, citing yoga, naturopathy and rituals rooted in nature.
Emphasising resource management, Naidu said the government had introduced a water security policy to ensure adequate supply for drinking, irrigation and industry, noting that reservoirs currently hold around 65% storage despite the onset of summer.
The Chief Minister reiterated his commitment to completing the Polavaram project, stating that ₹1,943 crore had been disbursed so far to displaced families.
He said the project would be completed and dedicated to the nation before the next Godavari Pushkarams.
Highlighting technology-driven governance, Naidu said advancements in artificial intelligence, quantum technology and data systems would enable real-time decision-making.
He credited earlier IT initiatives for transforming Hyderabad into a knowledge economy.
He said Telugu people abroad had become brand ambassadors of the state’s culture and reaffirmed his vision of making the Telugu community globally prominent.
On welfare, Naidu said the TDP-BJP-Jana Sena coalition government was focused on ensuring economic, social and health security for all.
He cited schemes such as financial support for families, assistance to farmers, and free bus travel for women and persons with disabilities. Over 560 million free bus journeys have been recorded so far, he said.
The Chief Minister also announced steps to boost employment, including a job calendar to fill 10,060 posts through APPSC.
He said over 30,000 government jobs and 628,000 private-sector jobs had been created in recent months.
Naidu said Andhra Pradesh ranked first in consumer justice and reiterated the goal of transforming the state into a “wealthy, healthy and happy society” by 2047.
Earlier, noted scholar Madugula Nagaphani Sharma presented the Ugadi Panchangam, predicting favourable outcomes for the state, including good rainfall, economic progress and cultural growth.
The Chief Minister later presented Ugadi awards to achievers in various fields and honoured temple priests.
Ministers, public representatives and senior officials attended the event.
