Kakinada, Jan 30 (TNT) : Andhra Pradesh Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Friday asserted that party workers are the real high command of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and said the leadership would always abide by their decisions.
Addressing a coordination meeting of TDP workers and leaders from the Kakinada Rural constituency here, Lokesh launched a sharp political attack on the opposition YSR Congress Party, particularly over what he called “political drama” surrounding the Tirumala laddu issue.
Speaking at a public meeting organised at Achampeta Junction here, he said the TDP had transformed Andhra Pradesh from a stage of humiliation to one where the state now competes nationally in development.
He credited party workers for the TDP-led coalition’s electoral success, stating that their sacrifices and commitment were the foundation of the party’s strength.
He said that the TDP functions as a family and called for unity, discipline and collective responsibility among leaders and cadres.
Referring to the killing of TDP worker Thota Chandrayya, Lokesh said he had taken personal responsibility to ensure a government job for Chandrayya’s son.
He stated that a law had already been passed in the Assembly to provide employment to family members of party workers killed due to political violence, and assured that the issue would be resolved in the upcoming session despite earlier obstruction in the Legislative Council.
Highlighting governance achievements, Lokesh said the coalition government was fulfilling its promises despite financial challenges.
He listed enhanced pensions, financial assistance under “Talliki Vandanam,” free LPG cylinders through the Deepam scheme, support to farmers under Annadata Sukhibhava, and free bus travel for women as key welfare initiatives.
He also pointed to the completion of the DSC process within 150 days, providing 16,000 teacher jobs, and the recruitment of 6,000 constables.
On development, Lokesh said the government had secured investment agreements worth ₹23 lakh crore, expected to generate employment for nearly 16 lakh people.
He cited industrial expansion plans, including fertilizer and green ammonia projects in the Kakinada region, as major job creators.
Calling for greater youth participation in party activities, Lokesh said training programmes should be strengthened and all party directives implemented without deviation.
He warned against internal groupism and stressed that effective leadership for the constituency would be decided only after consulting all stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Sana Satish, constituency observer K. Sathibabu, Kakinada Parliamentary TDP president Jyothula Naveen Kumar, constituency convener Pilli Satyanarayana Murthy, zonal coordinator Sujay Krishna Rangarao, and other party leaders.
