AP Min. Lokesh fulfils another ‘Yuvagalam’ Promise; State Festival Status for Dommeti Venkata Reddy Jayanti

Amaravati, March 22(TNT): Andhra Pradesh Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh on Sunday fulfilled another assurance made during the ‘Yuvagalam’ padayatra, with the government issuing orders to recognise the birth anniversary of noted social reformer Dommeti Venkata Reddy as a state festival.
During the yatra, Lokesh had promised that, upon coming to power, the government would celebrate the jayanti of Dommeti Venkata Reddy, founder of the Shettibalija community organization as an official state event.
Honouring that commitment, the government has formally issued orders declaring as a state festival every year and directed all departments to organise the celebrations.
Dommeti Venkata Reddy, a native of the Konaseema region, is remembered as a prominent social reformer who worked extensively for the upliftment of the Shettibalija community, promoting education, unity and social dignity.
He founded the Shettibalija Welfare Association and played a key role in advancing educational awareness within the community.
As early as the 19th century, he dedicated his efforts to the welfare and progress of marginalised sections of society.
