Amaravati, Mar 31 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday said the state is positioning itself as a global hub for quantum technology through the proposed Amaravati Quantum Valley, with plans to roll out India’s first open quantum computer on April 14.
Addressing a round table meeting on the quantum hardware ecosystem here, Naidu said Andhra Pradesh has taken an early lead under the National Quantum Mission and aims to build a comprehensive quantum ecosystem in Amaravati.
He said the state is targeting domestic manufacturing of quantum computing hardware within two years, including devices, cryogenics and algorithms, to reduce import dependence.
The meeting saw participation from organisations including IBM, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), along with academic experts.
Naidu said the state aims to be among the top five global quantum hubs by 2030, supported by infrastructure development, startup incubation and industry collaboration.
Officials said agreements have been signed with multiple firms, with initial operations already underway from temporary facilities in Vijayawada.
The Amaravati Quantum Valley will include dedicated towers for research and innovation.
The Chief Minister said the initiative is expected to transform Amaravati into a futuristic city while strengthening India’s position in emerging technologies.
