Amaravati, Mar 27 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday welcomed the Centre’s decision to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel, describing it as a “strong, people-centric move” that will protect citizens from global price volatility.
In a post on ‘X’, Naidu said “India is fortunate to have Prime Minister Narendra Modi providing stability amid challenging global conditions”.
The CM said the decision would help shield the common man from rising fuel costs and noted that at a time when several countries are burdening citizens with higher fuel prices, India has prioritised people’s welfare.
The move reflects the government’s commitment to cushioning citizens against global economic pressures triggered by the West Asia crisis, he added..
In a separate statement, Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing excise duties on petrol and diesel, calling it a major relief for common and middle-class citizens.
He said the Centre’s decision to cut petrol excise duty by ₹10 per litre and eliminate duty on diesel reflects the government’s commitment to public welfare.
