Amaravati, Apr 2 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday joined farmers in the capital region to celebrate Parliament’s approval of the amendment Bill granting legal status to Amaravati as the State’s capital.

Naidu, along with his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari and farmers, participated in a Deepa Harathi ceremony at Uddandarayunipalem, where the foundation stone for the capital was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The couple performed special rituals at the venue where sacred soil and water had been placed and received blessings from Vedic scholars.
Naidu also offered ‘sashtanga pranam’ at the site and, along with his wife, performed deeparadhana as part of the ceremonies.
Addressing farmers, the Chief Minister described the development as a significant milestone for the State and hailed the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in Parliament as historic.
“The long-cherished aspiration of the people of Andhra Pradesh has been fulfilled. The recognition accorded to Amaravati is a matter of pride for every Telugu person,” he said.
Naidu expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting Amaravati “at every step”, noting that both the foundation stone laying in 2015 and the renewed push for construction in recent years were carried out under his leadership.
He also thanked political parties that supported the Bill in Parliament and dedicated the development to the farmers of Amaravati.
Ministers P. Narayana, Nadendla Manohar, Atchannaidu, BJP Andhra Pradesh president Madhav, MLAs, and several farmers and women from the capital region also participated in the rituals and celebrations.
