AP CM Launches 100-Day Water Security Plan, App

Anantapur, Apr 6 (TNT) : Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday launched a 100-day action plan on water conservation along with a mobile application to strengthen water security and empower water users associations.

Addressing the “Jaladhara – Water Security & Responsibility of Water Users Associations” programme at Yadiki in the district, Naidu said water security is the government’s top priority, with efforts focused on efficient capture, storage and utilisation of water resources.

The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh ranks first in micro-irrigation with an investment of ₹1,031 crore, adding that drip irrigation has helped transform Rayalaseema into a horticulture hub.

He noted that groundwater levels have improved by 1.92 metres due to sustained initiatives.

Highlighting irrigation projects such as Handri-Neeva and Pattiseema, he said these have ensured water supply even to tail-end areas.

He added that Rayalaseema would witness further development under the “Purvodaya” scheme.

Reiterating the government’s stand on the state capital, Naidu declared that Amaravati is the only capital of Andhra Pradesh, accusing the previous YSR Congress Party government of creating confusion with the three-capital proposal.

He said people now take pride in Amaravati as the capital and criticised opposition attempts to raise doubts over its development, terming such efforts politically motivated.

Outlining a long-term vision, the Chief Minister said the state aims to emerge as a leading economy by 2047, with Visakhapatnam, Amaravati and Tirupati serving as key regional growth hubs.

He stressed that attracting investments and ensuring economic growth are essential for sustaining welfare programmes and improving living standards, while warning against actions that could deter investors.

Earlier, Naidu visited exhibition stalls at the venue and presented a progress report of Tadipatri constituency. The meeting witnessed enthusiastic participation, with people raising “Jai Amaravati” slogans and displaying placards in support of the capital.
