Tirupati, Mar 15 (TNT): The 523rd Vardhanti Mahotsavams of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya commenced on a grand note at Annamacharya Kalamandiram here on Sunday under the auspices of the TTD Hindu Dharmic Projects.

The celebrations began with a group rendition of Saptagiri Sankeertanas by artistes of the Annamacharya Project, which enthralled the audience.
Earlier in the morning, artistes of the project along with local musicians rendered Dwadashi and Saptagiri Sankeertanas, presenting popular compositions such as “Brahma Kadigina Paadamu…”, “Saranantu…”, “Hari Avataramithadu Annamayya…” and “Saranu Saranu…”. Harati and Mahanivedana were performed later.
At Tallapaka, special rituals were conducted at the Annamacharya Dhyanamandiram near the 108-foot statue of Annamacharya. Abhishekam was performed to the idol with water, milk, curd, honey, sugar, coconut water, turmeric and sandalwood amid Vedic chanting by priests.
The idol was later adorned with silk garments and floral garlands, followed by Dhupa, Deepa, Naivedyam and Karpura Harati. Devotees had darshan and received Theertha Prasadams.
Artistes of the Annamacharya Project also participated in Nagara Sankeertana and group renditions. From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saptagiri Sankeertana Goshti Gaanam was performed.
As part of the evening programmes, a music concert will be held from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m., followed by a Harikatha programme from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m..
