Amaravati Bill a historic milestone, victory dedicated to farmers: AP CM Naidu

Amaravati, Apr 2 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday termed the passage of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2026 in Parliament a “historic milestone” and dedicated the achievement to the farmers of Amaravati.

Calling Amaravati the “heart and soul” of Andhra Pradesh, he said it would emerge as a unique future city for the nation.

In a statement, Naidu said the long-cherished aspiration of the people of the State had been fulfilled, adding that the recognition accorded to Amaravati was a matter of pride for every Telugu person.

He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting Amaravati “at every step”, noting that both the foundation stone laying in 2015 and subsequent efforts towards rebuilding the capital were carried out under his leadership.

Naidu also thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Centre for extending full cooperation, and appreciated all political parties that supported the Bill in Parliament.

Describing it as a people’s victory, the Chief Minister said it was dedicated to the farmers of Amaravati, whose sacrifices and determination would remain unforgettable.

He asserted that Amaravati was now the “one and only people’s capital” of Andhra Pradesh, adding that there was no longer any scope for doubt or debate over the issue.

Naidu said the decision marked the end of the difficult phase following bifurcation and ushered in a new era of stability and progress for the State.
