Hyderabad, Mar 30 (TNT): Assam Rifles delivered a commanding performance in both the men’s and women’s sections of the 74th BN Mallik Memorial All India Police Football Championship on Monday, remaining unbeaten and showcasing complete dominance on the field.
In the men’s Group F league match, Assam Rifles secured a resounding 6–0 victory over Telangana Police Football Team.
Displaying aggressive attacking play from the outset, the Assam side broke through the opposition’s defence repeatedly to register a one-sided win.
In other men’s matches, Rajasthan Police Football Team thrashed Chandigarh Police Football Team 8–0, underlining their strong form in the tournament.
Uttar Pradesh Police Football Team defeated Railway Protection Force Football Team 4–0, while Delhi Police Football Team overcame Karnataka Police Football Team 4–1.
Gujarat Police Football Team registered a 4–1 win over Andhra Pradesh Police Football Team in a competitive encounter.
Meanwhile, several matches ended in draws, with Bihar Police Football Team and Arunachal Pradesh Police Football Team sharing honours in a 2–2 draw.
Punjab Police Football Team and Indo-Tibetan Border Police Football Team played out a 1–1 draw, as did Sashastra Seema Bal Football Team and Madhya Pradesh Police Football Team.
Odisha Police Football Team edged past Central Reserve Police Force Football Team 2–1.
In the women’s category, Assam Rifles continued their winning streak with a convincing 4–0 victory over Odisha Women Police Football Team, leaving their opponents with little opportunity to respond.
In another closely contested women’s match, Manipur Women Police Football Team defeated Tamil Nadu Women Police Football Team 2–1 to gain an early advantage in the tournament.
