AIMIM Releases First List of 12 Candidates for West Bengal Polls

Hyderabad, Apr 3 (TNT) : The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Friday released its first list of 12 candidates for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections.

The party, led by Asaduddin Owaisi, has decided not to field candidates in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala and Assam.

According to the list released here, Imran Soanki has been fielded from Raghunathganj, Danish Aziz from Asansol Uttar, and Misbahul Islam Khan from Kandi.

Rejaul Karim will contest from Sujapur, while Advocate Mohammed Mostahid Haque has been nominated from Mothabari. Haji Ansar Sk Sab will contest from Nalhati, and Tasir Sk Sahab from Morari.

Among others, Monaem Sardar has been fielded from Barasat, Mehboob Alam from Karandighi, and Asadul Sk from Suti. Shabana Parvin will contest from Basirhat South, while Asik Raj Mondal has been nominated from Habra.

The announcement marks AIMIM’s initial push to expand its presence in West Bengal ahead of the Assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the party has extended its support to the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led alliance in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, headed by M. K. Stalin.

In Assam, AIMIM is backing Badruddin Ajmal’s All India United Democratic Front (UDF).

In the last elections, the party contested three assembly constituencies in Tamil Naidu.

Polling in West Bengal will be held in two phases later this month, while elections in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry will be conducted in a single phase. Tamil Nadu will also go to the polls separately.
