Aid materials distributed to 150 persons with disabilities in Chennai

Chennai, Feb 24 (TNT): The Chennai School of Social Work, Department of Social Work Disability and Empowerment, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Educational and Development Trust and the Indian Red Cross Society, organised a programme to distribute aid materials to persons with disabilities at its campus recently.

Over 150 persons with disabilities benefited from the distribution programme aimed at supporting their daily needs and promoting social inclusion.

The event was attended by Dr. S. Raja Samuel, Principal of Chennai School of Social Work; Dr. R. Subashini, Dean; K.A. Mathew, IAS (Retd.), Chairman; Muthukumar Thanu, Vice Chairman; Dr. Nataraj, IPS (Retd.), Secretary; John Zacharia, Treasurer; and Dr. A. Enoch, Head of the Department of Social Work.

Dr. Kolli Raju, Assistant Director (RTD), CCRH, Ministry of AYUSH, and President of MAAASS and IIHP Tamil Nadu and Chennai, also participated in the programme.

The event was coordinated by Indian Red Cross Society officials, Ilangovan, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Educational and Development Trust; S. Savarimuthu; and Dr. T. Kavitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Social Work Disability and Empowerment, along with students.

Organisers reaffirmed their commitment to continue humanitarian and social welfare initiatives for the empowerment and well-being of persons with disabilities.
