Hyderabad, Mar 2 (TNT) : Prof. S Raghunath, Chairman, Academy of International Business (South Asia Board) and former Dean of IIM Bangalore, on Monday said that artificial intelligence (AI) will not eliminate meaningful human contribution but will reorganize how institutions function, placing greater responsibility on humans to guide decisions with wisdom and conscience.
Delivering the 14th N J Yasaswy Memorial Lecture on the theme “The Legacy Leadership: Building Institutions that Transform Society,” organized by the ICFAI Group, Prof Raghunath said the pride of merely possessing knowledge is fading in an era where AI can rapidly analyse and process information.
In the emerging landscape, he observed, human beings will be valued more for judgment, ethics and moral clarity — particularly in situations marked by uncertainty.
Prof Raghunath said only a few individuals create institutions that endure for generations. “An institution is built on a clear purpose, strengthened by the credibility it earns, and shaped by the culture it creates. N J Yasaswy strongly believed that lasting institutions must stand on these foundations of purpose, credibility and culture,” he said.
Referring to the legacy of N J Yasaswy, he noted that educational institutions must evolve from being knowledge transmitters to knowledge navigators, helping students interpret and apply information responsibly.
Creativity, imagination and character will define the future, he said, urging students and educators to focus on creating impact. In a human-plus-AI world, he added, it is ultimately human values and judgment that will shape society.
In his welcome address, T Koti Reddy, Vice Chancellor (in-charge) of ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, recalled Yasaswy’s life and described him as a nation builder who believed education must go beyond disciplines and degrees to shape character, sharpen intellect and inspire responsibility.
