AP: Former Kadapa Airport Director convicted in CBI trap case
Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh), Aug 3 (TNT): A Special Court for CBI Cases at Kurnool on Monday convicted the then Assistant General Manager (Air Traffic Management) and Officiating Airport Director of Kadapa Airport in a corruption case investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The court found Mukundagiri Rangachari Srinivasan guilty in a CBI trap case and sentenced him to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹30,000 under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
He was also awarded two years’ rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹20,000 under Section 7 of the Act. Both sentences will run concurrently.
According to the CBI, the accused had allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹50,000 from a complainant for processing pending bills at an early date and for not initiating blacklisting proceedings against the complainant’s firm.
The agency said the accused was caught red-handed during a trap operation while allegedly accepting ₹25,000, the first instalment of the demanded bribe.
After completion of the trial, the Special Court convicted the accused for offences punishable under Sections 7 and 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, the CBI added.
