Centre Reviews FCV Tobacco Market in AP , Assures Support to Growers

Amaravati, July 26 (TNT): A high-level team from the Department of Commerce, Government of India, led by Additional Secretary Nitin Kumar Yadav, reviewed the prevailing market situation of Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday and assured growers that the Centre was closely monitoring the situation.

The delegation held discussions with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with the Chairman and Executive Director of the Tobacco Board, on measures to protect the interests of FCV tobacco farmers and ensure long-term stability in the sector.

The team also visited the Tobacco Board’s auction platform at Vellampalli, where it reviewed the auction process and interacted with growers to obtain first-hand feedback on the prevailing market conditions.

The delegation appreciated the transparent and orderly conduct of the auctions by the Tobacco Board.

Yadav said the Centre, in coordination with the Andhra Pradesh Government, the Tobacco Board and other stakeholders, was examining appropriate measures to safeguard the interests of FCV tobacco growers in view of the evolving market situation.
