13 API projects, 48 pharma units operational in Telangana under PLI schemes: Centre

New Delhi, July 21(TNT): Thirteen projects for manufacturing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) have been approved in Telangana under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Bulk Drugs, while 48 production units are operational in the State under the PLI Scheme for Pharmaceuticals, the Centre informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.

Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel, in a written reply, said the 13 approved API projects under the PLI Scheme for Bulk Drugs are located in four districts.

Nalgonda and Sangareddy account for five units each, followed by Yadadri Bhuvanagiri with two units and Medak with one unit.

Under the PLI Scheme for Pharmaceuticals, 16 approved applicants are manufacturing APIs through 48 production units spread across eight districts in Telangana.

Sangareddy has the highest number of units at 25, followed by Hyderabad and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri with five units each.

Medchal-Malkajgiri and Nalgonda have four units each, while Medak has two units. Rangareddy has two units and Kamareddy one, the Minister informed in the Rajya Sabha.
