HAMSA, Aernnova sign MoU for indigenous 200-seat commercial aircraft programme
Hyderabad/Farnborough, July 21(TNT): HAMSA Industries Pvt. Ltd. and Aernnova Engineering Division on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development of India’s first indigenous 200-seat single-aisle commercial aircraft programme, aimed at strengthening the country’s aerospace manufacturing ecosystem.
The agreement, announced at the Farnborough International Airshow, marks the beginning of a strategic partnership to support the design, certification and eventual manufacture of a commercial passenger aircraft in India.
Under the collaboration, the two companies will jointly explore opportunities in aerostructures engineering, structural architecture, manufacturing engineering and digital engineering to support the proposed aircraft programme.
The companies said the initiative is intended not only to develop a world-class commercial aircraft but also to build the engineering capabilities, industrial partnerships, advanced manufacturing infrastructure and aerospace supply chain required to establish a globally competitive commercial aerospace industry in India.
HAMSA Industries Managing Director Umesh Vankayalapati said the partnership represents an important first step towards creating the national aerospace capability required to realise India’s ambition of designing and manufacturing an indigenous commercial aircraft.
Aernnova Engineering Division Executive Vice President and Managing Director Juan Carlos Ortiz said the company would contribute its expertise in aerostructures engineering and work with HAMSA to support the development of advanced aerospace capabilities in India.
Daniel Hayes, Strategic Advisor to the HAMSA programme, said the collaboration seeks to combine international aerospace experience with India’s engineering talent and industrial ambition to establish the foundation for the country’s next generation of commercial aircraft manufacturing.
The two organisations said they will begin technical workshops and engineering studies to identify initial work packages and prepare a roadmap for future collaboration under the HAMSA commercial aircraft programme.
