Telangana Cabinet Clears Rail Hub Near Shamshabad, Approves Mukteshwar Lift Irrigation Scheme
Hyderabad, July 18 (TNT): The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, on Friday night approved the establishment of a rail hub near Shamshabad as part of the proposed high-speed rail network connecting Hyderabad with Mumbai, Bengaluru and Chennai.
Addressing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Roads and Buildings Department presented the proposed alignments for three high-speed rail corridors linking Hyderabad with the three major cities.
The proposed corridors are Hyderabad–Pune–Mumbai, Hyderabad–Bengaluru and Hyderabad–Amaravati–Tirupati–Chennai. The Centre has already accorded in-principle approval for the corridors, he said.
The Cabinet also approved the completion of the Mukteshwar Lift Irrigation Scheme, also known as Mini Kaleshwaram, which envisages lifting 4.50 TMC of water from the Godavari River at Kannepalli to provide irrigation to about 45,000 acres in the Manthani Assembly constituency.
The Cabinet sanctioned an assessment of the works already completed and approved the remaining works required for completion of the project, the minister added.
