AP: Peddapuram Tahsildar’s appeal for self-respect earns widespread public appreciation

Kakinada, July 14 (TNT): It is not a government notification but a flex board carrying a message of dignity and equality that is drawing attention at the Peddapuram Tahsildar’s office. Revenue official Srinivas has asked visitors to retain their footwear, stand confidently and present their grievances without resorting to gestures of submission.

The flex advises members of the public not to leave their footwear outside the office, not to stand before officials with folded hands, and not to fall at anyone’s feet or plead in a demeaning manner. Instead, it encourages them to enter wearing their footwear and present their grievances politely while maintaining self-respect and dignity.

The message also calls on people to shed what it describes as an age-old culture of subservience and embrace the spirit of equality.

Residents have welcomed the initiative, saying the Tahsildar treats everyone with respect and patiently listens to their grievances before directing subordinate staff to take appropriate action.

The officer’s initiative has earned praise across the region for promoting dignity and equal treatment in government offices.
