Kakinada police counsel rowdy sheeters, warn of strict action

Kakinada, July 12 (TNT): Kakinada district police on Sunday counselled rowdy sheeters and warned them against indulging in criminal and anti-social activities, stating that stringent legal action would be taken against repeat offenders.

The counselling programme was conducted at police stations across the district on the directions of Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav as part of efforts to maintain law and order, prevent crime and enhance public safety, police said.

Station House Officers summoned rowdy sheeters within their respective jurisdictions and advised them to abide by the law, stay away from land disputes, personal rivalries, criminal intimidation, gambling, ganja and narcotics smuggling, and other anti-social activities.

They were also urged to make use of employment opportunities and lead a responsible life with their families.

Police warned that the activities and movements of rowdy sheeters would remain under constant surveillance and that those found involved in criminal activities would face stringent action, including bind-over proceedings and other legal measures.

Circle Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors participated in the counselling programme, police added.
