AP, Telangana CMs Express Grief Over Vietnam Boat Mishap; Relief Measures Initiated

Amaravati/Hyderabad, July 11 (TNT): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday expressed grief over the tourist boat accident in Vietnam in which tourists from the Telugu states were among those killed and injured.

Naidu said three residents of Andhra Pradesh were killed in the mishap.

According to the State government, a group of 33 tourists from Andhra Pradesh had travelled to Vietnam, of whom 19 were on board the tourist boat involved in the accident.

Three people lost their lives, while the remaining passengers were rescued. One person sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.

Describing the incident as deeply distressing, the Chief Minister reviewed the situation with officials and sought details of the rescue and relief measures as well as the condition of the survivors.

He directed officials to take immediate steps to facilitate the safe return of the rescued tourists to Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu also instructed officials to extend all necessary assistance to the families of the deceased and directed Andhra Pradesh Bhavan officials in New Delhi to coordinate with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnamese authorities to provide all required support to the affected tourists and their families.

Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed shock over reports of the death of several tourists from the Telugu states in the boat accident near Phu Quoc Island.

In a post on X, Revanth Reddy said he had directed officials to ascertain details of the accident and asked the Chief Secretary to coordinate with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam to expedite relief and rescue efforts.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to gather complete information about the victims, ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and extend all possible assistance to the affected families.

He assured that the Telangana government would stand by the families during the crisis.

The Telangana government’s General Administration (NRI) Department has set up a control room to coordinate assistance and provide information to the families of those affected.
