Tributes poured in from across the political spectrum and the film fraternity following Janaki’s demise

Bengaluru, July 11 (TNT): Tributes poured in from political leaders and members of the film fraternity following the demise of veteran playback singer S. Janaki on Saturday.

Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan said Janaki’s songs transcended linguistic and regional boundaries and united millions through the universal language of music.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over her demise and said her soulful voice and immense contribution to Indian cinema would be cherished by generations to come.

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) condoled her death, describing her as a legendary singer from Telugu-speaking states whose timeless songs brought alive a wide range of human emotions.

Condolences also poured in from across the film industry.

Actors Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Chiranjeevi paid homage to the veteran singer, recalling her unparalleled contribution to Indian cinema and her enduring musical legacy.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay also expressed grief over her demise and paid tribute to her contribution to Indian film music.

The Karnataka government announced that Janaki’s last rites would be conducted with full State honours.
