Telangana Govt Approves Rs 77.31 Crore for Maintenance of GHMC Traffic Signals
Hyderabad, July 9 (TNT): The Telangana government has accorded administrative sanction for Rs 77.31 crore for the operation and maintenance of 404 traffic signals under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for a period of three years.
According to G.O. Rt. No. 671 issued by the Metropolitan Area and Urban Development Department, the sanctioned amount of Rs 77,31,51,504, inclusive of 18 per cent GST, will be utilised for the operation and maintenance of the existing traffic signals and the supply, installation, testing and commissioning (SITC) of new signals through the e-procurement platform.
The approval was granted following a proposal from the GHMC Commissioner, who informed the government that the existing maintenance agreement with M/s IBI Group (I) Private Limited is due to expire on September 19, 2025, necessitating a fresh contract.
The maintenance work will include ensuring round-the-clock operation of the 404 traffic and pelican signals, maintaining connectivity with the Central Command Control Centre and control rooms of the three police commissionerates, and ensuring uninterrupted traffic management for the public.
The government has directed the GHMC Commissioner to invite fresh tenders through the e-procurement platform, adopting transparent technical and financial evaluation criteria for the selection of the service provider.
