Document writers stir in Kakinada for opposing privatization of registrations
Kakinada , July 7 (TNT) : Document writers staged a dharna in front of the Sub registrar’s office here on Tuesday protesting against the government’s move to privatize the registrations and demanded scrapping of GO No : 396. Document writers, stamp vendors and DTP operators participated in the dharna in large numbers.
Document writers association president Ch Govindarao while addressing the protesters expressed serious concern over the plight of hundreds of document writers, stamp vendors who were eking their livelihood on the documents writing but now their families virtually would be in streets because of the government’s move to privatize the registrations .
He demanded the government to withdraw the move to privatize the registration department entrusting the same to private organizations or third party agencies.
He warned that by privatization people would be overburdened by heavy service charges and land sale and purchase would lay a heavy burden on the common man.
He also expressed serious concern over the possible repercussions as the registrations data and vital land records and peoples documents data is likely to go into the hands of private individuals and likely to create law and order situation.
The union leaders warned that they would stop the registrations and go into indefinite strike if the government fails to withdraw its decision on the privatization move.
