ACE, Japan’s KATO form JV to manufacture high-capacity cranes in India
New Delhi, July 3 (TNT): Action Construction Equipment (ACE) Ltd. and Japan’s KATO Works Co. Ltd. on Friday announced the formation of a 50:50 joint venture, ACE KATO Pvt. Ltd., to manufacture high-capacity cranes in India for domestic as well as global markets.
The joint venture will manufacture Truck Cranes, Crawler Cranes and Rough Terrain Cranes for sectors such as infrastructure, mining, ports, energy, metro rail, transportation and heavy industries, Haryana based ACE, India’s leadng construction and material handling equipment manufacturer said in a release here.
The company has established an 11-acre manufacturing facility in Haryana with a planned investment of around Rs 200 crore.
The investment will be utilised for manufacturing infrastructure, advanced production systems, technology integration and product development, with additional investments planned in phases to expand capacity.
Under the partnership, KATO will provide product engineering, design and technology, while ACE will handle manufacturing, sourcing and localisation.
The companies said the products will be manufactured in India for both domestic and international markets, in line with the ‘Made in India for the World’ initiative.
The joint venture will also focus on increasing localisation of components through ACE’s supplier ecosystem to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce production costs, strengthen supply-chain resilience and shorten delivery timelines while maintaining global quality standards.
ACE Executive Director Sorab Agarwal said the partnership marks a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy and combines Japanese technology with India’s manufacturing strengths to create a globally competitive platform for high-capacity crane manufacturing.
KATO Works Director Tomoyasu Kato said the joint venture would strengthen KATO’s global manufacturing network while delivering technologically advanced crane solutions for customers in India and overseas markets.
The partners said phased investments and expansion plans would position ACE KATO Pvt. Ltd. to support India’s growing infrastructure sector while enhancing the country’s role in the global construction equipment manufacturing value chain.
