AP Govt seeks dedicated freight corridors, high-speed rail  

New Delhi, Feb 10 TNT): Meeting Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Tuesday sought dedicated freight corridors connecting Itarsi–Vijayawada and Kharagpur–Chennai via Vijayawada.
He requested completion of pending rail projects, approval of new lines, and a Gazette notification to operationalise the South Coast Railway Zone from April 1.

The CM also urged to approve high-speed rail between Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, semi high-speed rail between Vijayawada and Kurnool, and a Tirupati–Chittoor high-speed link.
He also sought a Vande Bharat service between Vijayawada and Bengaluru via Tirupati.
