People’s Welfare Is Our Agenda, Says Telangana Dy CM Bhatti
Nalgonda, June 28 (TNT): Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Sunday said the Congress government’s sole agenda was public welfare and asserted that the administration was implementing development programmes with a humane approach to address the needs and aspirations of the people.
Addressing a public meeting at the NG College Grounds in Nalgonda, Bhatti said the government was giving top priority to the development of Nalgonda and Khammam districts in recognition of the trust reposed in the Congress by the people.
Highlighting the government’s infrastructure push, the Deputy Chief Minister said unprecedented investments were being made in road development across Telangana.
He noted that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had recently laid the foundation stone for road projects worth ₹13,000 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM), while another ₹13,000 crore had been allocated under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), besides additional budgetary allocations.
He said Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had launched road development works worth nearly ₹23,000 crore, adding that the total investment in road infrastructure through various Central and State schemes would touch nearly ₹90,000 crore.
Launching a scathing attack on the previous BRS government, Bhatti alleged that it had neglected the long-pending Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC), Dindi and Nakkalagandi irrigation projects during its decade in power.
He said the present government had accorded top priority to completing the projects after Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy brought their importance to the Chief Minister’s attention.
The Deputy Chief Minister said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had personally inspected the projects and assured that there would be no shortage of funds for their completion.
Drawing a contrast between the two governments, Bhatti alleged that the previous BRS regime ruled with arrogance, whereas the Congress government was implementing welfare programmes with compassion and a people-centric approach.
Highlighting the government’s welfare initiatives, he said the Congress administration planned to provide over ₹20,000 crore annually in interest-free loans to women, with the total assistance expected to exceed ₹1 lakh crore over the next five years.
He said the government had allocated around ₹22,500 crore for constructing 4.5 lakh houses for poor families under the housing scheme, while over 1.06 crore ration card holders were being supplied six kilograms of fine rice per person.
The Deputy Chief Minister said nearly 53 lakh families were benefiting from up to 200 units of free electricity, while women were availing free travel in RTC buses.
He described these initiatives as examples of the Congress government’s commitment to inclusive welfare and development.
Bhatti also praised Congress workers who, he said, endured false cases, harassment and political pressure during the previous regime but remained loyal to the party.
He assured them that the government was committed to providing a fearless environment and fulfilling the aspirations of the people while continuing its development and welfare agenda.
