Library Dedicated to India’s Prime Ministers Inaugurated on P.V. Narasimha Rao’s Birth Anniversary
New Delhi, June 27 (TNT): A library titled Pradhanamantri Sangrahalaya, dedicated to documenting the contributions of every Prime Minister of independent India, was inaugurated on Saturday on the occasion of the 105th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao.
Telangana BJP official spokesperson and media in-charge N.V. Subash, a grandson of P.V. Narasimha Rao, who inaugurated the library, said the initiative had been conceived by family members to preserve the legacy of all Prime Ministers for future generations.
He said the library would serve as a common platform showcasing the contributions of every Prime Minister, irrespective of political affiliation, to India’s nation-building journey.
Paying tributes to P.V. Narasimha Rao, Subash said the former Prime Minister’s leadership during the 1991 economic crisis transformed India’s economic trajectory through landmark reforms.
He said Rao’s decisions helped rescue the country from a severe balance-of-payments crisis, liberalised the economy, encouraged investment and laid the foundation for India’s emergence as one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
Subash said Rao’s successful leadership of a minority government while implementing sweeping structural reforms reflected his political acumen and consensus-building abilities.
He described Rao as a distinguished scholar, prolific writer, polyglot and committed nationalist whose contributions deserved greater recognition in India’s historical and academic discourse.
Observing that Rao had not received due recognition during his lifetime despite decades of public service, Subash said his contributions had gained wider national recognition in recent years.
He urged young people to study Rao’s life through authentic historical records rather than relying on misinformation, saying his life offered enduring lessons in integrity, scholarship, courage and public service.
Subash said the Pradhanamantri Sangrahalaya would function not merely as a library but as a permanent institution dedicated to preserving India’s democratic and political heritage and ensuring that the contributions of every Prime Minister remain accessible to future generations.
Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library (PMML) Chairman Nripendra Mishra and Teen Murti Bhavan Chief Executive Officer Priyanka Mishra attended the programme.
